AVOID BAD TEACHINGS
To understand what is in the bible, it is good to refer to other
scriptures in the bible. Jesus warned His apprentices "BE
CAREFUL OF THE YEAST OF THE PHARISEES. THEY
ARE HYPOCRITES" [Lk 12:1 IC]{Mt 16:6}{Mk 8:15}. At
times different translations are helpful, as older translations use an
old English term "LEAVEN" although the word "YEAST" is
better understood today. Of the three records of the oral traditions
of Jesus words about leaven or yeast, Luke also records "THEY
ARE HYPOCRITES". How are they hypocrites? In Matthew is
included the explanation "Then they understood that He was not
telling them to guard against the yeast used in bread, but
against the teaching of the Pharisees and Sadducees" [Mt 16:12
NI]. This warning can be about religious leaders today. How can
we be sure we are not following bad teachings? If we only follow
the teachings of Jesus, we can be sure we are following the truth.
Do you only follow Jesus?
