BE OPEN TO GOD
Near the end of their final Passover meal, Jesus reminded His
apprentices that He previously sent them out in ministry without
money or a bag and their needs were met. However, Jesus went on
“BUT NOW IF YOU HAVE MONEY OR A BAG, CARRY
THAT WITH YOU. IF YOU DON’T HAVE A SWORD, SELL
YOUR COAT AND BUY ONE” [Lk 22:36 IC] because things are
different and He will soon to be treated as a criminal, as written in
scripture. Jesus encouraged them to take care of themselves,
including being able to defend themselves because the enemy will
temporarily have his way. God guided Jesus on what to “SAY” [Jn
12:49] and apparently, God wanted Jesus’ apprentices to take care
of themselves and be able to defend themselves at this time.
Although God usually provides followers needs, we must not limit
God’s guidance. Are you open to God?
