GIVE AND RECEIVE While teaching in the flat lands, Jesus discourages judging and condemning while encouraging forgiving. Then Jesus encourages giving by stating "GIVE, AND YOU WILL RECEIVE" [Lk 6:38 IC]. To further encourage how you give, Jesus recommends "WHATEVER MEASURE YOU USE TO GIVE—LARGE OR SMALL—WILL BE USED TO MEASURE WHAT IS GIVEN BACK TO YOU" [Lk 6:38 TL]. Although it may appear that Jesus is appealing to our greedy nature, the motive in our giving needs to be in obedience to God, then when we are blessed by our giving, we can praise and thank God.
