JEWISH PEOPLE
Jesus describes many end time events to His apprentices, including
"THE SUN WILL BE DARKENED" and "PEOPLE WILL SEE
THE SON OF MAN COMING IN CLOUDS" [Mk 13:24-26 NI]
and then Jesus states "TRULY I TELL YOU, THIS
GENERATION WILL CERTAINLY NOT PASS AWAY UNTIL
ALL THESE THINGS HAVE HAPPENED" [Mk 13:30 NI]{Mt
24:34}{Lk 21:32}. Obviously, the generation Jesus was speaking
about, has died or passed away hundreds of years ago. Either Jesus
made a mistake or the translators made a mistake. Jesus "SAYS" [Jn
12:49] what God tells Him to say and He speaks the truth, so it is
possible that it was mistranslated. Jesus spoke Hebrew, which was
remembered in Hebrew oral tradition for over twenty years and then
translated and recorded in Greek. When translating Hebrew to Greek,
apparently the main dictionary reference was the Greek translation of
the Hebrew bible known as the Septuagint. The Greek word for
"GENERATION" is "genea", which was used for 10 different
Hebrew words when translating the Septuagint. One of the 10 Hebrew
words "molodeth" found in [Nu 10:30], recorded in the Greek bible
as "genea", is better understood as "kindred" or "people". A better
translation of Jesus' words in English would be "TRULY I TELL
YOU, THIS PEOPLE WILL CERTAINLY NOT PASS AWAY
UNTIL ALL THESE THINGS HAVE HAPPENED" [Mk 13:30
ET], referring to Jewish people. Do you believe Jesus?Home, Basic, Subjects,
